It's all in the eyes

This morning on the way to work I made an important discovery. I worked out a foolproof method for cyclists to get motorists to let them out at a junction. This is particularly crucial on Milton Road at rush hour as there is often a queue, and not all motorists are considerate enough to leave a gap at side-roads for people to pull onto the main road across the lane with the queue.

All you have to do is sit there on the bike with what they call a hang-dog expression, looking as if you're about to start crying. Then, when a likely candidate comes along, look at the driver through the windscreen with a hopeful smile on your face. I haven't tested it extensively, but it seems to work.
